John Gitchell, Principal, is an environmental professional with broad experience in business, technical and leadership roles. Qualifications include an MBA from University of Denver and 11 years experience as a corporate environmental manager. From 1993 to 2004 John Gitchell developed environmental policies and led development of sustainable operating practices for ski areas and lodging properties in Colorado including Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin. In 2004 Gitchell founded Sustainable Business Solutions, Inc. to offer environmental services to a broader range of clients.

Over the past 5 years SBS has also co-organized 10 education conferences and events, developed green building publications, provided green building services, and partnered on a green building project to develop a prototype home that uses 50% less energy than code.
